I grew up in the city of Suita in northwestern Osaka (Hokusetsu), near Expo '70 Commemorative Park. Ever since I was in elementary school, Expo Park and the Tower of the Sun have been a fixture of my weekends, and they will always be in my heart as one of my formative landscapes. I proceeded down the path of architecture with the Tower of the Sun as my metaphorical guide, studying with classmates at university and colleagues at work and deliberately crafting each design with the desire to contribute to people and society through architecture.
Architecture is extremely challenging. Although there are limitless answers to any design question, feedback from clients and people who will actually use the building bring things into focus. There are as many evaluation criteria as there are people evaluating, so there is a broad range of approaches. The thing to do is to grapple with each one earnestly. The seemingly audacious will to tackle challenges is the driving force behind our designs; it represents our calling. Our aim is to build as many buildings as we can that blend into daily life and add color to people’s formative landscapes. With this in mind, I have immersed myself in the craft of making things with my colleagues at DAIKEN SEKKEI.
Architecture is so much fun! The process of creating a building with the client and the many other people involved provides us with countless learning experiences and immense joy. The completed building has an important mission and will fulfill its role in shaping society. Design firms take on a great deal of responsibility and fulfill their role in the process of making things, ultimately benefiting the various stakeholders involved in each project.
To continue to be a group worthy of this role, we at DAIKEN SEKKEI take steps every day to create an organization that truly believes the challenges are what make the work enjoyable, and to provide a wide range of services rooted in advanced technology to meet our clients’ expectations.
Prominent works

Away from work

Traveling with family quite literally fills my heart. You can also see local architecture, killing two birds with one stone.

I love taking bicycle trips with my cycling friends. Once a year, I climb this hill to test myself. It gives me the greatest sense of fulfillment!

I continue to play the guitar whenever I can—even if not very often—to connect with people.

I love soccer—and Gamba Osaka most of all!
