From Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Architecture Department of Ishikawa Institute of Technology, I entered Toyohashi University of Technology, where I completed my graduate studies in 1995. Upon graduation, I joined DAIKEN SEKKEI and was assigned to the Nagoya Office, where I remain to this day.

I grew an interest in drawings back in middle school when a teacher praised me for a drawing I made for building a chair in industrial arts and home economics class, telling me I'd be good in design work. It prompted me to go onto a Kosen (technical college). I gained a fascination for and learned the depth of architecture from a professor of mine at the Department of Architecture and developed a desire to learn more about architecture. Instead of taking a job at this time, I decided to go on to university and pursue architectural design.

Create architecture that can be described in a single phrase

To date, I have had the opportunity to design many public facilities, and through civic participatory workshops, I have experienced the true beauty of architecture, created together with end users as well as government officials. Among these projects, while not a traditionally difficult task, building a school with children responsible for the future of their community was a valuable experience that helped me to grow as a designer.

When designing, I always try to create architecture that can be described in a single phrase.it simple for everyone, from children to the elderly, to understand the architecture we want to create, not just architectural experts. I always ask myself whether I am growing too complacent, whether I am considering things from the standpoint of all building stakeholders, and try to design that resonates with everyone.

In my work and personal life, there is one quote from a famous F1 driver that I always remember when I want to get out of a difficult situation: “No attack, no chance.” It's a simple phrase meaning that if you don't try, you won't get a chance. It always inspires me

Connection to the Enjoyment of Soccer

I have two sons, and I spend my days off going to their soccer games and practices. Watching and cheering for my kids taking their game seriously is refreshing for me. Recently, I have gotten addicted to the fun of soccer. Soccer is more than a matter of individual technique dribbling the ball underfoot; it’s a series of motions in taking in the entire field, carrying the ball as a team with a broad view, leading to a goal. This is similar to how a design team should work.
